About My Life in God’s Project

My Life in God’s Project is an updated, contemporary adaptation of St. Ignatius of Loyola’s Spiritual Exercises. This retreat experience—made in the midst of your daily life—will invite you to strengthen your relationship with God, to discover God’s desires for you & the world, and to better understand who God is calling you to become.

With over 30 weeks of daily streaming audio reflections and prayer prompts, you can take this retreat experience with you wherever you go! Subscribers access content through a mobile app (iOS & Android) or through a web browser.

The team at Spiritual Grounding developed My Life in God's Project with the aim of making this ancient devotional text accessible to modern audiences. We designed this experience to be:

  • Relatable—we avoid theological jargon and use a simple, accessible style.

  • Relevant—we invite listeners to grapple with both the beauty and brokenness of the modern world.

  • Relational—we remind listeners to not only think about their relationship with God but also their relationships with friends, family, the poor and marginalized, and even the created world.

Sample Reflections & Prayer Prompts

  • The Principle & Foundation is the opening prayer of “My Life in God’s Project.” Retreat participants are invited to pray this prayer at the beginning of each daily prayer period. Listen here.

  • Lovers often write and sing love songs to their beloved. You are God’s beloved—can you received God’s love song? Listen here.

  • When they met at the burning bush, God told Moses he was on holy ground. Where are the spaces and places in your life that have been holy? Listen here.

  • Bessel van der Kolk’s bestseller “The Body Keeps the Score” reminds us of the wisdom that our bodies hold. This reflection invites you to use your body in prayer to better understand your relationship and attitude toward sin. Listen here.

Here’s what people are saying.

  • “This was a fantastic resource that led me through the Spiritual Exercises. Not only did it allow me to deeply contemplate Scripture and travel through Jesus's life, but it gave me the opportunity to reflect on other texts and historical and current events in relation to my spirituality. Through the Spiritual Exercises and this resource, I was able to explore all facets of my life and faith and make the decision to commit my life to God's Project each day.”

  • "Lauren Schwer and Oliver Goodrich have created an Ignatian resource which will be a valuable tool for people at every point in the cycle of spiritual life. These two have years of study of, practical experience in, and passion for The Spiritual Exercises and are using all of that to creatively, and faithfully, interpret The Exercises in our current context. Lauren and Oliver are the next generation of guides in the Ignatian tradition and are using the tools at their disposal to make this tradition come alive in new ways."
