About My Life in God’s Project
My Life in God’s Project is an updated, contemporary adaptation of St. Ignatius of Loyola’s Spiritual Exercises. This retreat experience—made in the midst of your daily life—will invite you to strengthen your relationship with God, to discover God’s desires for you & the world, and to better understand who God is calling you to become.
With over 30 weeks of daily streaming audio reflections and prayer prompts, you can take this retreat experience with you wherever you go! Subscribers access content through a mobile app (iOS & Android) or through a web browser.
The team at Spiritual Grounding developed My Life in God's Project with the aim of making this ancient devotional text accessible to modern audiences. We designed this experience to be:
Relatable—we avoid theological jargon and use a simple, accessible style.
Relevant—we invite listeners to grapple with both the beauty and brokenness of the modern world.
Relational—we remind listeners to not only think about their relationship with God but also their relationships with friends, family, the poor and marginalized, and even the created world.
Sample Reflections & Prayer Prompts
-
The Principle & Foundation is the opening prayer of “My Life in God’s Project.” Retreat participants are invited to pray this prayer at the beginning of each daily prayer period. Listen here.
-
Retreat participants are invited to pray the “examen” prayer daily during their retreat using the following steps:
Awareness: Call to mind God’s presence and ask for an open heart
Review: Review the day for the various events, conversations, and situations you encountered.
Thanksgiving: Name the gifts, graces, and the moments you felt God was most present in and thank God for each.
Sorry: Be honest with yourself about the things that didn’t go to plan—the frustrations, anxieties, and moments you behaved in a way you wish you hadn’t. Consider whether you need to forgive someone and in what ways you might need to ask God for forgiveness.
Yes: Focus on the day ahead by saying yes to whatever it may hold, and asking for whatever support you need for the situations and people you may encounter.
When you take the first letters to each step of this examen, you find a simple acronym: ARTSY. The Spiritual Grounding team likes the term ARTSY, since it serves as a reminder of God’s invitation to become a co-creator of your life and your role in God’s Project.
